Default State vs. State: North Carolina or Florida

This is another installment of my State vs. State series.

If an employer gave you the opportunity to live in either North Carolina or Florida, and you were given a salary that would enable you to live comfortably anywhere in one of these two respective states, which state and region would you move to? Also, tell us why you chose that location.

I would never pick any part of NC except possibly Asheville. There are a lot of areas in Miami I would pick, Winter Park or SW Orlando, or Clearwater and Sarasota in Florida. Again if money were no object there is nothing enticing to me in NC.

I didn't say money wasn't "no object," just comfortable.

Neither. I regret with my last breath the day I moved to Florida (husband's job). North Carolina would not be much better. No "halfback" for me. No matter what the money.

Why do you dislike Florida?

North Carolina's okay (my 2nd favorite Southern state after FL, even though Duke-a school for the mentally ill and UNC-a kindergarten are there), but I love Florida, and not just South Florida either. I've been to Jacksonville and St. Augustine a few times and loved it too. Orlando, Tampa, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami are all great as well (especially the first two). I've never been to Tallahassee, but some people have described it to me as "redneck" and "as Southern as Mississippi." One of the Black football players from UMD ran into a "racial situation" down there once when they were playing FSU, but screw that Florida is the best!

I appreciate your clarification but I would still never really pick NC. It is a little too woodsy, segregated, dull for my tastes.

Given the opportunity... would have to go with neither...considering the last time I was in FL I quit my job and left the state lol...

Wouldn't go to NC either.

If you are asking which I'd rather be in, would have to say FL though. I imagine NC would be even worse than my day to day things that irritated me in FL.

It isn't on MS level, but that doesn't surprise me.

I would go with my home state of NC. It is what I know and I am already comfortable here. However, if it was Florida versus another state, Florida would have a chance. But any state compared with NC will lose IMO.

I would not want to live in either state, but if I had to choose it would be North Carolina by a mile.
