The concept seems to be to name something that NY has that Chicago doesn't that isn't city specific.

For example, Chicago doesn't have brownstone neighborhoods but it does have Brownstones.

Chicago has statues, entertainment districts, brownstones, Fashion Week, international organizations, sporting events, mass transit, etc.

Of course it doesn't have the EXACT items that NYC has...but it has something comparable to most anything that you would find in any big city. I would say that all big cities have comparable stuff.

If you go by total deposits than neither NYC or Chicago have a top 20 bank. If you go by consolidated assets than your right. Chicago's largest bank would come in at #21.

Why such an arbitrary number?

Chicago has the CBOT and CME. Comparable in impact to the NYSE
