yeah such as flying, driving, riding the train, riding the bus. Which both cities have done well. There doesn't need to be multiple trains if one consolidated system can do the job of all of them. That's like going to the milk store to get milk, going to the bread store to get bread, and getting a skillet at a skillet store. When you can just go to the supermarket and get them all in one trip.

You have a point, and I'm not trying to say MDT is better than MARTA, I was just stating that Miami has more options but Atlanta definitely takes the ridership.

I have a question though, do MARTA trains cover the whole Atlanta Metro Area? Because Miami has the Metrorail which covers The City Of Miami, but it has the commuter Tri-Rail which goes through the whole South Florida Metro Area.

NO!... and that's the problem. It only covers Dekalb and Fulton county cause they are the only ones that pay. It needs to cover clayton, cobb, and esspecially gwinnet.

After decades of swabbling. Now a legislation has been passed this year where the region can vote on a transportation tax. That means the aforementioned counties will have to pay and they will recieve service and hopefully c-tran, gwinnet transit, and cobb transit will be apart of marta as well as the new beltline (light rail) that is going to be huge...

as well as expansion of rail in those cities

Ah I see so basically Atlanta needs a good commuter system.

All of the core counties have bus transit systems that either come all the way into the city and/or connect with MARTA for a complete into-town solution. (exception: Clayton County's bus service recently ended, but they expect it to be back on line soon.)

Even with that said, there is the Georgia Xpress commuter system that covers 12 counties of the metro area... to-and-from MARTA and the city's major employment districts.

Nah. MARTA does need expanding but it really could use a good commuter rail system. But all that has been done is studies after studies on the issue and even when huge amounts of Federal money were offered to get started with it as far back as before the Olympics, proposals caught so much opposition from suburban county officials nothing could be done..

Express buses are fine but are not as fast as commuter rail especially during rush hour.

A firestorm of planning has begun since that bill has passed. That was a huge bill. That's what has changed since the olympics. Since everyone in the region has to pay for transit now. They might as well be served that's why marta and the beltline project are beside themselves with joy. They are going to start by expanding into communities more amenable to transit like the interior of dekalb and a little further west.
