It's nice to see that they're finally bringing museums and culture to the city with the Arts District. It's sad that the 8th largest city in the country didn't have the quality of museums that nearby Ft. Worth has.

At least the cost of living is cheap and there is a busy airport, so you can save a lot of money and fly to more interesting, exciting destinations.
Well, the NY Times and I both disagree with you.

The 44 Places to Go in 2009 - Interactive Graphic - NYTimes.com

They ranked Dallas as one of their 44 MUST visit Destinations in 2009 and Suprise!(to many closed minded people, who would judge) it's for the Cultural district.

And seriously, you really can't say that having a large sister city nearby is detrimental to Dallas' case.

Anyone who lives in Dallas and doesn't visit Fort Worth is missing out and vice versa. They are part of the same community. BTW I say take TRE train it's easier thank you think.

It's EASILY as unique as NYC. WOW.
To answer the first question: FRANCE.

and just to point out everywhere has it's version of a redneck. I have been to a lot of places and only lived in 3 Major Metro areas the FW of D/FW(and many FW burbs and Denton) , Houston(Hellumble, Clear Lake) and NYC Metro (Elizabeth, NJ) and I think the NYC version of a redneck might just be a guido..lol

Easily it must be Salt Lake City [home to the Mormon Church] where even coca cola is frowned on & liquor stores are run by the state & open only during the week.

Little Rock, Arkansas is its close twin. I wouldn't really consider places like Jackson, Little Rock, Shreveport, etc to be cities anyways. They are large towns that think they are cities. Most real cities have suburbs that are more populous than these "cities" are.

Atlanta isi a very, very boring place. The one little section in the city area that doesn't close at 5:00 PM is boring, and Buckhead is way out of the way, like a suburb, and is just like any other fabricated "going out on the town" area - no charm, no history, just a lot of newly constructed glitz. I was extremely bored in Atlanta - I had more fun when I had a chance to go into the country outside of Atlanta. Let me tell you, Atlanta is a far, far cry from NYC, or even Philly.

As for liquor sales, more than half of the states also control liqour sales, so Utah is not unique there. Only about 60% of Utah residents are LDS. Some drink caffienated soda, (I know, gasp!). There is a vibrant arts/entertainment scene in the Salt Lake area, and it really isn't boring at all. Disclosure: I'm not LDS myself, but the area gets a bad rap when it doesn't deserve it.

Can you name another city the size [approx 200,000] of Salt Lake City that is more boring?

I put Memphis into this category as well. It's just Jackson or Little Rock with a tourist attraction. I would throw Baton Rouge and Birmingham in that ring, but I'm kind of hesitant.
