Albuquerque is the winner

People tell me that Tucson is similar to Albuquerque in some ways
but I've never been there (Yet). Maybe a hotter, Sonoran desert version?

El Paso...maybe in third place? or second? Was there once briefly so can't really judge
...seems like it fades into Ciudad Juarez, the bigger neighbor.

Las Vegas and Phoenix...nope, neither one

I drove through ABQ, I live in Tucson. They definitely LOOK similar but I can't say they are the same. Skylines are identical, tall snowy mountains out east... But I was staying in Santa Fe and while I loved it, that part of New Mexico did remind me of home in a lot of ways with a few minor differences.

I voted Tucson on here only in spite of Phoenix winning the thread at the time which infuriated me.

The thread is titled "which city best describes the Southwest", not "what words best describe the Southwest".

Anyways, if you think the entire Southwest is brown and hot, it just shows how ignorant on the matter you are.
And if you think it snows all the time in the northeast

How many of you would consider Palm Springs California southwest?

Interesting. I was in Tucson in March. One surprise there for me was the lack of Mexican influence at the street level considering how close Tucson is to the border.

Phoenix is the Southwest's unofficial capital. Arizona overall is my definition of the desert southwest.

I think of Albuquerque, Phoenix, Tucson when I heard Southwest, in that general order.
