I'd have to go with Minneapolis, thanks to the Nicolet Mall and the surrounding shops and restaurants. Milwaukee's a close second.

Des Moines does have a nice downtown area for a city its size. However, claiming it's the second best in the Midwest is a bit of a stretch as it doesn't offer much. With that said, did you get lucky in Des Moines urbancharlotte? You know I'm messin with you.

My vote goes for MPLS. I have an affinity for the city I developed after living there for a spell at a young age. We found all the "cool" places. Plus they have great shopping > much better than WI...and I always enjoy their airport.

That night they had a bar crawl going on that got you into all of the participating clubs in the area and all of the beer you wanted for just $14 (if my memory is correct). After the clubs closed, the "drunk taxi" took you back home FOR FREE!!! HELLO!!! That's what I'm talking about!!! Being that I am happily married now, I will not go into anymore details about that night LOL!!!! Let's just say Des Moines (as I can recall) was and probably still is off the chain!!!

I say pick Des Moines hands down!!!

Haha! Well, I knew it had to be something much better than some steak house or bar.

Sorry Drover, I was asking you. I should have quoted your statement. I was just curious as to how high your expectations were.

Well as I said, I wasn't there as a tourist, so it's not like I had some preconceived expectations that were not fulfilled. I went with basically no expectations at all and found no compelling reason to come back in a tourist capacity.
