I think I'd put Winston-Salem at the top of the list as most Southern. I think I'd put Austin at the other end of that list. The VA cities would certainly be more Southern than the Texas cities. Daytona would be more Southern than Orlando in my opinion. I have never been to New Orleans...so, I cannot comment. Atlanta (and the greater metro area) will have parts that are very Southern and other parts that are not.
Winston-Salem, while definitely a southern city, seems very much like a Northeastern or Midwestern industrial city. New Orleans is the most southern of that list IMO, with Richmond a close second...of course, I see "southern" as a good thing - a compliment.

That sounds about right. Austin is very Texan (as in cowboy hats, boots, Texas Country is big but not Pop or Southern Country) but not it's not very Southern at all.
