despite the relatively high median incomes, the cost-of-living here is insane.

I don't know.

I cant find Median Household Income for Brazilian Cities, but Barueri, my SP suburb of 270,000 has a Per Capita GDP of $51,000 U.S. Dollars which is very high for the developing world.

Median Home Price in Barueri, SP Brazil is $352,000 US Dollars.
