The Mid-Atlantic can be condescending at times, but New England elevates pompous to an entirely new realm.

Mid-Atlantic by a landslide.

Boston area might be pompous, but in my experience the rest of New England is a lot more down to earth and friendly than the Mid Atlantic is.

I don't know why people swear the Northeast is so arrogant. Everyone is different and you'll encounter arrogance everywhere. Its ignorant to think a particular region is full of arrogance, its funny though.

I'd say the Mid-Atlantic ONLY because its larger than New England so it probably has more arrogant people.

I said New England because they have Boston, no offense

I find both areas to be very down to Earth outside of a select few cities

I voted for New England because the Mid-Atlantic option on this poll includes Maryland, DC, and NOVA which I don't think are arrogant (and I don't even include them as part of the Northeast). New Englanders are especially arrogant when it comes to sports (grew up in New England...hate the Patriots).

I know. You can't generalize a whole area of like 4 states to be arrogant. You have people from small towns of like 3,000 to a city of over 4 million. I'm sure the people from each area are going to be different.

Arrogance varies so much from person to person that I really can't say even though I've spent most of my adult life living in the Northeast.

Also, the "mid-Atlantic" region extends beyond the Northeast into the South. Though I can understand possibly referring to Baltimore as a Northeastern city, it would be a bit of a stretch to call DC "Northeastern" and quite a stretch to refer to Northern Virginia as the same.

I think much of the arrogance comes from those who go to the ivy league and ivy league-level schools in the northeast....but a large percentage of those are not from the northeast. Therefore, my argument is that the northeast isn't inherently arrogant, rather its the outsiders coming in with their pompous attitudes.

Yeah, like transplants in NYC. The rude NYers people talk about are the transplants who are arrogant since they think they're the world's greatest thing since they "made it" in NY.
