I take that back, Rochester is pretty tough also:
Newark, Camden, East Orange, Trenton, and Atlantic City vs NYC, Syracuse, Albany, Rochester, and Buffalo.LOL, NJ wins EASILY!! No contest. Watch out for those thugs at Niagara Falls, LOL.
While you're laughing, there are some parts of NF that are kind of "bombed out". Just go ask on the Buffalo area forum, seriously. With that said, Upstate NY is generally more laid back.

You don't know what you're talking about. You've never even been to any of the boroughs, so how can you say they seem quiet and safe? Try saying that in Bed-stuy I was at open school at work in the south Bronx a few weeks ago. Once it got dark, I heard this gang fight in front of the school--chains, guns, breaking glass in cars. We had to leave the classroom because we were afraid of gunshots coming through the window. That's definitely quiet and safe.

Since when are Italians so tough? It sure wasn't obvious to O'Connor, Auchinlek and Montgomery.

NYC is severely offset by Upstate and those very very quiet areas, I mean New York's suburbs are always in the Top 10 in Safest Towns by the Morgan Quitno Association or whatever u spell it. New Jersey wins as a whole. But if this was NYC vs. NJ, then NYC win hands down
