The Transamerica Pyramid and 555 California St is ugly as heck!

(The Renaissance Tower isn't a nice looking building, but it looks better than 555 California St)

No way> Dallas has some great towers, those two are boring though

The Crow Center isn't all that distinctive. Philly has a similar, pyramid-topped tower, BNY Mellon Center, though cladding of the Crow is brown while that of BNY Mellon is white. The pyramid gets different colored lights depending on what's going on in town, similar to the Crow building.

I am talking about buildings built in the 1800s-1930s.

The majority of the buildings built in the 50s, 60s, and 70s are very ugly.

Im not a fan of the Transamerica Pyramid but it has got to be one of the most iconic highrises in the country, if not world.
... really?

Look, I'm not trying to convince you or anything that Dallas has a better skyline, but when I look at it, I can tell which building was built in what era quicker than I could if I was looking at San Fran (and it looks like more than half of them were from the same brutalist 60'70's era). But that's just my view.

The way I see it, Dallas has more signature towers (regardless of anyone liking them or not).

- BoA Plaza is a cut in/set back shape with neon green lighting
- Commerica Tower has 4 barrel vaults on top
- Fountain Place has that crazy twist look
- Reunion Tower is another observation tower.... BUT it has a ball on top. It's got it's own significant look.
- Renaissance Tower has that dueling 'X' design and considering how it looked before, it's MUCH improved.
- The Chase Tower may look (for lack of a better word) strange, but at least there is SOME sort of design.
- Trammel Crow has several different triangular shapes going on
- The Republic Center is cladded with stars and has a brutalist spire on top
- And 1700 Pacific has a double sided step roof

They're all different and they all bring some unique qulity to Dallas' skyline.

Dallas destroyed most of their old building stock.

Ironic because this scene, which doesnt even include highrises in the financial district is less bland and has more to look at than any view of Dallas' downtown Ive ever seen.
