Frankly, I like Chicago's skyline (prettier though not larger) and lower cost of living better than New York. I feel that it's very manageable for a big city. New York isn't overwhelming, but it's a lot bigger even than Chicago.
I love both of them, but would prefer New York. I could easily see, however, why someone would like Chicago more. I don't know why that's a problem.
New York is in a league if its own and is the only mega city in the United States. Chicago is a great city but is comparable to other major urban centers in the US, such as Philadelphia, Boston, San Francisco, etc.
Speaking as a Chicagoan I totally agree. It's the arrogance and attitude of the typical New Yorker that would prevent others from wanting to set foot in that city. The whole "we're the best city in the world and we're gonna constantly remind you of it" mentality gets old. I find it funny that alot of the women I've met from NYC online are single, never been married, never had kids and are pushing 40, and are attractive women. Speaks volumes.
lol im from chicago been to new york and sadly i hated it, everywhere i would walk people were rude and nasty (mean). but chicago has the same problem. but chicago is also alot cleaner, sorry new yorkers everywhere i walked there was garbage on the street. but everything was cheaper. chicago also has warmer winters , new york doesnt.. but new york was better because everything was open after 2am while in chicago most thing ARNT open after midnight. but in the ways i expressed both cities have downfalls and ups..... in all honesty who gives a **** where you live... as long as your happy but i prefer California.

chicago cleaner- yea agree in most areas...especially downtown
new york cheaper?- No.
chicago warmer?- No.
Chicago has nothing open after midnight?- No.
and yes i agree...people like what they like..who cares
NYC is 3x the size of Chicago, but I wouldnt wanna take credit for the Bronx and Staten Italy, or even being that close to Jersey. When I hear people say "NYC is soooooo big", yes, it is, my fam is from there and I have lived there, but lets not forgot that youre including the Bronx and SI. NYC would be much better without either one. One is about 90% a dump, and the other is an island wasteland of guidos. I dont see anyone having "fun nights out" in either one of those boros, save for a Yankee game, so lets not use them as a reason why NYC is better.
Only parts that are worth anything are Manhattan, Bk and Queens.
Honestly, when you consider the best parts of both cities, Chicago stacks up quite well and holds its own.
Theres no reason to bring the Bronx or SI into it. We can take the Southside out too, or any other undesirable area, and I still think that.
Nobody moves to NYC for the Bronx or SI.
Its all for about a piece from the 50s to downtown Manhattan, northern, western and southern Bk, and well.... Queens is a mix. More for just Manhattan and Brooklyn but thats it.
Id rather not take credit for the Bronx, SI or Jersey just as much as they wouldnt for the Southside or NW Indiana.
i hope all of you know that NYC does not just consist of manhattan island but has land on long island (queens, brooklyn) also it has staten island (which has a lot of room) and the bronx. ive been to both citys and i can honestly say that chicago seemed really nasty the streets were **** brown and those alley ways they have smell like ass i mean i know new york isnt the cleanest place but its a huge city with a gigantic population. plus new york has so many historical places on top of places that are needed for the economy to function properly *cough* *cough* wall street. chicago has lake michigan, the sears tower, and downtown. i mean chicago is an alright city but new york is on a WHOLE OTHER LEVEL so stop trying to compare the two.
Youre right, but its the only parts worth anything.
If youre gonna talk about NYC being better, id leave Jersey, the Bronx and SI out of it.
You dont see anyone in Chicago taking credit for the Southside.
NYC is a massive city, and in that massive city, the only parts that are attractive to most people for the NY experience are from Midtown to downtown Manhattan, and downtown Brooklyn and surrounding neighborhoods. Thats basically 90% of what the areas of interest are for this town.
Obviously theres more, but when someone is talking about NYC, theyre leaving out probably 60% of it, and of that amount it is nothing to brag about.
Im just tired of seeing people saying "NYC is soooo much bigger" and implying by that, that it is better. Most of it is needless or a dump.
Lot of fat to trim here. If the state were to give SI to Jersey, which geographically makes the most sense, and the Bronx to upstate, then the stock rises even more.
Chicago is just smaller than NYC, but its amenities are pretty close in quality
+1
Why lie?
I believe someone in here said he gets 75% in Chicago what he can get in NYC for 50% of the cost, which is spot on.
People need to actually see both cities to realize this.
