You know, I just thought of a good one on this subject: The Rathbun Brothers.
Kevin Rathbun owns/runs Krog Bar and Rathbun's in Atlanta.
Kent Rathbun owns/runs Abacus and Shinsei in Dallas.
Anyone tried all four or a combination of two in each city? Which has the better food. Personally I've only been to Krog Bar...but their Tapas were D I V I N E.

Whatever someone wants to call it, its inappropriate. Having political propaganda such as that "hate white people" has no place in a city govt building and it looks a bit fishy when that city hall is predominantly African American, I'm sure if the tables were turned the discussion would be going a little differently. And thanks for calling my statement a "paranoid rant" yes, I made all of that stuff up, none of it took place. It is all paranoia. Each thing I mentioned you can google and find info about. I guess since its negative press on Atlanta you guys will just dismiss it as paranoia.

What about other states That have all white members in city hall is that fishy too.. I think you hate the fact that Atlanta is all majority black and you make it seems as if whites are always overlooked.. We are glad you found a place that is more suitable for you... Atlanta isnt for anyone and Dallas isnt either

[quote=R1070;12314236]This is my formal apology to those I have offended on here. I admit my statements were without merit and unresearched. I made everything up just to make Atlanta look bad. In the process after reading the responses from the Atlanta forumers I realized what an amazing city Atlanta really is and I now regret my move from there and will be leaving Dallas by the end of January to move back to Atlanta.[/quote

I hardly think of Georgia as some sort of utopia of racial progress. Wasn't there a black woman who served this country that was brutally attacked by some guy at a Cracker Barrel right outside of Atlanta? Forsyth County was a "sundown county" for years, and wasn't MARTA often referred to as "Moving Africans Rapidly Through Atlanta" by people for years? Or how the surrounding counties voted against the system because they feared "crime" and "thugs"? Ironic how the very people they feared moved out to those counties any how, meanwhile Atlanta has sprawled out even more. You think that was by accident?
So no, I don't think GA is any better than TX in that regard. I was speaking about my personal experiences in the city I lived in. If yours was different, fine.
And I "cut it" just fine there, thank you very much. I managed to buy a house and finish my education while I was there.

Abacus is a GREAT restaurant. I also liked N9NE as well. Too bad they closed. The Restaurant at Turtle Creek was simply divine.

How is Atlanta for vegan/vegetarian alternatives? Dallas has two great places that I recommend, the Spiral Diner in Oak Cliff and the Cosmic Cafe in Oak Lawn. The Cosmic Cafe is vegetarian and all the food is Indian inspired. The Spiral Diner has phenomenal brownies, also they have a location in Ft. Worth. The Ft. Worth location is actually the original.

Did you just waltz into C-D for 1914? I've known several black people who where born and raised in Dallas and I never heard the city described like this. I have a good friend who was born and raised in Grapevine she never said anything negative about it. Last I heard, she was moving back to the area to go to grad school at UT Arlington.

Atlanta has some great restaurants for a vegetarian and such. Funny thing is this midwestern boy was the only one in my small office that ate red meat. People in Atlanta are definitely foodies, lots of great restaurants there. I even miss the Varsity!

and you don't think it was possible to do that without insulting african american texans?
you make it sound like black folk over here are just biding our time, and waiting for the next train outta here, when that couldn't be further from the truth. i don't know what dallas YOU were in, but the black community in this state is becoming more and more prosperous each day and many of us wouldn't dream of going elsewhere
black atlantans don't have anything within their reach that black texans don't have as well
