I don't love or hate either city - neither one thrills me or bores me. But Dallas gets the edge because of Fort Worth and the Stockyards, Cowtow Coliseum Rodeo, etc. All the western stuff is fun and interesting.

If they have cows, cowboys, and rodeos and they're west of the Mississippi then to me they are definitely western.
And I'm not the only one who thinks so, this is from Wikipedia:
"Fort Worth is the seventeenth-largest city in the United States of America and the fifth-largest city within the state of Texas.[9] Located in North Texas and a cultural gateway into the American West..."
It's definitely culturally and historically "Western".

dallas definitely isn't eastern, but it's not western either. atleast not in the way that places like arizona, colorado, wyoming, idaho, etc. are
it's south central
plus, the texas cowboy is a descendant of the southern cowboy (yes there are cowboys in the southeast)

No. Cowboys came from Mexico, into California and Texas. Much later, there were cracker cowboys in Florida.
DFW is Western.

Yeah, people often get that mixed up. The Texan Cowboy is a descendant from the Mexican Vaquero. The cowboys you hear about in the East, are Florida Crackers.
