Memphis is the younger sister that has more responsibility, more settled down than her hot-to-trot sister on down the river. However, she still likes to have a good time and get down when she wants to. St. Louis could be their more serious older cousin/sibling that mildly chastises Memphis and New Orleans for their party ways, but don't mind hanging with them once in awhile. St. Louis would rather just chill and drink a beer and watch a baseball game with family and friends. She doesn'mind the occassional get-together though.

Over at the Piedmont household, their cousin, twice reoved Atlanta is the "fun" auntie that doesn't mind hanging with her nieces and hanging with them, but may get perturbed if they try to take over on the dance floor. She has her flashy, snooty side, but people learn that she can be pretty cool and easy to get along with if you know how to push the right buttons and say the right things. As she's got older, she has more responsibilities to deal with and has a variety of ideas on how to juggle and handle them, but has a stubborn mother named Georgia that hits her up for money quite a bit, but tells Atlanta where to go and how to get there when Atlanta needs to borrow money from her. Atlanta seems to think tht Georgia is resentful of her success and in return, she thinks that Georgia plays mind games and endless power struggles with her. It's a testy relationship.

Charlotte is the younger sister that has looked up to Atlanta and her glamourous facade, but as she's gone up in age, resized that she should be proud of all that she has accomplished. Charlotte knows that she can learn what Worked for Atlanta and what did not work and applies those lessons to her own life. She still admires her older, accomplished sister, but knows that it'll be her time to shine later on down the road, and is slowly learning that patience is a virtue.
Reading this was an up and down rollercoaster of emotions. Best work i've read in years!

I knew! I should had explained why I said Atlanta is like a bigger New Orleans and Memphis when I explain why I said Dallas is like a bigger OKC. because I saw this coming .
but like I said " I was referring to geography, history and demographically" and this is important "I didn't say they were a perfect match" so don't take it as if I'm implying that.

geography wise Memphis and NOLA are on a major river one of the largest in the world, while Atlanta is on rolling foot hills near mountains. I compared the two to Atlanta for the greenery, Yes Houston would be more like a bigger New Orleans but Houston is not a topic city or metro on this thread. I compared the two topic cities to others cities not others to others cities. If you want to compare Houston it have to be with Dallas or Atlanta.... gee I wonder which city is a closer match? no comment.

demographically the Metros of Atlanta, Memphis and New Orleans are all over 30% black that's the lead comparison demographically. New Orleans has french influences and Atlanta doesn't but technically Georgia does have African influences like Louisiana but it's not center on Atlanta more like Savannah, Gullah people may come to Metro Atlanta but the culture is more on coast.

Gullah - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gullah language - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

history Again New Orleans is older and has french and spanish influences, and it's musically history is one in a million but neverless memphis has a strong musically history which speaks for it self. Atlanta contrary to common knowledge Atlanta music scene didn't begin in the 2000s or in the 90s with laface.

Bessie Smith In the 20s
Down in Atlanta G.A.
Underneath the viaduct one day
Drinking corn and hollerin' hoo-ray
Piano playin' till the break of day
Before the Underground Atlanta actually fell off to match it's name and became a tourist trap.

Population 1910

Oklahoma City 64,205
Dallas 92,104

Memphis 131,105
Atlanta 154,839
New Orleans 339,075 (A complete monster back than)

but just for the record off topic

Charlotte was 34,014 in 1910, but was settle in 1755 which is the closet in age to New Orleans 1718, but even back in 1910 Charlotte population match Atlanta's pop 30 years earlier in 1880 Atlanta 37,409 I say Atlanta is more like a bigger Birmingham than anything, Birmingham was 132,685 in 1910.

Houston was 78,800 in 1910 no cities in the south come close to N.O. population back then unless you bring in the upper south cities like
Louisville and DC which are questionable but Atlanta population was closer to N.O than Houston historically.

Atlanta ask her mother can she annex mother Georgia said NO. Georgia is also one of the few Mothers who won't help pay for the rail transit. The irony is Mother Georgia sleep at Atlanta's house.

3)Atlanta has more trees and such but I think that feature makes Atlanta feel like a smaller city than it is. When you drive down 75 from Cobb you drive through a lot of areas that feel like driving through the woods.
4)Dallas feels like a much safer city to walk around and do things at night.
5)Dallas is a lot more proactive on rail transit and freeway expansion.
6)Atlanta has a much more obvious racial element.
7)Dallas is on a grid street system, very easy to navigate and traffic is not nearly as bad as Atlanta because of this.
8)Dallas has no smoking in bars! that is a huge plus!

* I dont hate Atlanta at all but Dallas is definitely the better choice if the things above are important to you as they are to me.
I COULD poke holes through almost every single thing you stated here, but I know you mean well (pretty much).

Let's just call it a huge difference in perspective.

But, you could not be more wrong if you tried.

Well, I dont normally do requests, but here I go!

My disclaimer is that these are all exaggerated, so you have to see through that.

I have likened the Texas cities to girls from high school:

Dallas: Dallas was the high school girl that everyone wanted to be. She was very pleasing to look at, the was the captian of the Cheerleading squad, and had guys gwaking at her at every turn. Her boyfriend was the captian of the football team. For all this, she didnt have a whole lot of substance. She would only be friends with girls she thought were worthy of her. She went to a remedial college for the purpose of finding a husband. She married an older rich guy. She is a trophy wife who values appearance over function.

Houston: Houston was the girl in high school who couldnt get a date to save her life. She unattractive and was unkept. However she had alot of substance to her and would be friends with anyone. She hung out around gothic and artsy people who felt shunned by society. She was often the subject of jokes by Dallas and Austin. She went to arts school where she continued to meet others like her. Over the years she got alot more friends and people started to see the person inside who was beautiful. She became a lesbian and lives with her partner.

Austin: Austin was the girl who thought she was different, but was really the same as everyone else. She refused to play sports or try out for cheerleading/dance because she thought she was too good for it. She told everyone how liberal, accepting, pretty, and fun she was, but never walked the walk. She tried to play off the cliches she made for herself. She had two close friends and never hung out with anyone other than them. She went to college and never married because she thought she was too good for the guys she met.

Fort Worth: Dallas' younger sister. She had a good head on her shoulders. She wasnt hot and wasnt ugly (a real 5 out of 10). She was full of substance and character. She was also laid back and not materialistic. She would often encounter Dallas and her friends who would tease, make fun of, and point out to her how she would never meet a guy who would love her. She is best girlfriends with San Antonio. She went to college and married her best friend. She lives very happily, loves her job and loves her family.

San Antonio: Like Fort Worth, San Antonio wasnt beautiful, but was attractive in a plain way. She also had substance and was very laid back. She didnt go to college, but instead spent 5 years in Mexico after High School. Like Fort Worth, she also married her best friend and lived happily ever after.

Now for some others that I cant resist making fun of:

Waco: Went to seminary and started a legal movement to ban sex after marriage because it was immoral.

Tyler/Longview: Had sex with their brothers.

El Paso: Was the ESL student no one could understand.

Amarillo: Skin was so white you would get blind looking at it.

There. Now Ive had my fun!
