3rd Choice, IA: Nice cities, clean, but last choice due to poor weather and boring topography.

there are only a few artsy cities, most of NM isnt artsy, its the tourist areas that give that impression.

Choosing between these 3 states is a very odd combination.

Iowa is all cornfields, probably not many jobs available, harsh winters, probably not much to do for young people, and the pace of life is very slow.

Alabama is very southern and more redneck, dont know what there would be to do for young people, dont know about the jobs available.

New Mexico has the southern Rocky Mountains and at least has tons of outdoor ammenitites, Albuquerque wouldnt be a bad choice, dont know what jobs are available, atleast there is solid population growth.

Its a tough choice between these three, but I would go with New Mexico but by a slim margin.

You're kidding right? In the Iowa has many more jobs than the rest of the country, it has 6.7 unemployment I think, and the two largest metropolitan areas, Des Moines, the capital, and Omaha, which is actually in Nebraska, have very low unemployment rates, 5.7 for Des Moines and 4.8 for Omaha.

^ plus they're both growing like weeds. Des Moines has gone from around 390,000 to 560,000 since 1990. Lots of new jobs, mostly white collar.

and Omaha metro has gone from 618,000 to 840,000 since 1990, and the city has gone from about 336,000 to 440,000 today.

I would live in Alabama on the Gulf. I'd be the creepy old man that parties with all the college kids who come down for spring break. Awesome.

If I couldn't live on the Gulf and had to live elsewhere in one of these three states, I would probably kill myself with a hammer.

New Mexico for me. I miss that place. Actually a suburb outside of Albuquerque, in Rio Rancho. There is even a song about it.

I pick Iowa cause it has a far better 4 season climate, the best scenery, more interesting things to do and a stable non housing bubble dependent economy.

Originally, I was wanting to go to Iowa. But life ended up taking me to New Mexico, where I have been for the past 4 years. And I couldn't have asked for anything better.

However, I choose Iowa. NM is not bad, though. Iowa was my first love. Never been to Alabama.
