Those were some of the ones I can think of. Keep in mind that even though most of DC's hoods don't look as gritty visually as the hoods I've linked and may even look quaint at first glance, remember that looks can be deceiving, most especially after nightfall.

Yup, 1000% There were areas that police wouldn't even patrol. Now they have sub stations in these neighborhoods, they keep tabs on gangsters, have cameras in public spaces etc... It's still bad in these neighborhoods but nothing like it was back then.

Yeah right. If anybody really thinks the ghettos up in places like the Inland Empire, Oakland etc look "nice" they are just talking out of their butt. I don't like to use this term but some places in Southern California especially just look 3rd world.

The region that's really worse in terms of ghettos is the midwest with the likes of what you get in Detroit, St. Louis, Cleveland, Chicago etc.
