There are also a few smaller or mid-sized cities that dont really have much of a skyline,choose which one you would like to see with a few more high-rises.
Ive been to all but VA Beach and Shreveport, so I cant comment on those. As for the other cities, my vote goes to Tucson for having the most unappealing skyline of the bunch. The surroundings of Tucson (ie Catalina mts, etc) are gorgeous, but the city itself was dreadful. But, as always, just my opinion...
San Jose without a doubt. It's like the runt of the litter. SJ you need to keep up with your Bay area brothers SF and Oakland. With all that venture capital floating around San Jose it's obscene that the skyline is indistinguishable from a flyover nobody city.
Wow. They are all sort of unremarkable. Don't know if I could pick one that is most boring... I guess I would NOT put Tucson on the list, despite it's low profile urban center, b/c the surrounding mountains are beautiful.
I think each of these cities have pretty unimpressive skylines considering the population of each.
One thing to keep in mind about Virginia Beach, however, is that its downtown is only what, 4 or 5 years old?? Where those buildings are was wooded undeveloped land just a few years ago. That city is a collection of suburban districts with a newly found "Town Center." It is far from being an impressive city skyline though.
I am surprised how uninspiring El Paso is given its size. I think my vote would go there.
Lubbock easily. Fort Wayne has a better skyline than Lubbock.
Honestly, I don't even think Lubbock has a skyline.

Tucson's skyline was as exciting/awe inspiring/exciting as shoelaces.
