Before you get red in the face, this isn't thread to further split up ideals on the north and south. This is just a thread to see which region of the country is best just by C-D forumers.....
We should have our own personal civil war on this forum.
NOT the kind of war we had back in the 1860's, but "war" of which region is best overall in these 7 common categories....
- Best group of skylines
- Best Food
- Best weather
- Best transportation (traffic and rail systems)
- Best in sports
- Best culture
- Best cities
And instead of this being a "war" between the north and south, we're gonna make this a nation wide thing. It's the Northeast vs. South vs. Midwest vs. West.
Northeast States (New England, NY, Penn, Jersey, Delaware, Maryland)
Southern States (the Virginias, the Carolinas, Florida, Georgia, Tenn, Kentucky, Miss, 'Bama, Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas)
Midwest States (Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Mizzou, Kansas, Nebraska, the Dakotas, Oklahoma)
Western States (New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Wyomming, Idaho, Montana, Cali, Nevada, Oregon, Washington,Utah, Hawaii, Alaska)
Tbh you should have a midland category, throw Colorado, Oklahoma, Wyoming, the Dakotas, Nebraska and Kansas in there. Maybe even Utah for good measure.

- Best group of skylines: Northeast. New York City, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Boston, Baltimore, Jersey City, Providence, Newark.
- Best Food: Tough one...New York's the best food city in the country though. Boston (Lobster, Clam Chowder), Philadelphia (Philly Cheese Steak), and Baltimore (Crabs) have great food. I'd have to give the nod to the Northeast, even though the West has some amazing food cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco. Chicago is an amazing food city too.
- Best weather: Anywhere but the Northeast or Midwest.
- Best transportation (traffic and rail systems): Northeast. Not even close. New York City, Boston, and Philly all have top-notch systems.
- Best in sports: Not sure what this is talking about...if this is in regard to success in professional sports for the decade, I guess you'd have to say the Northeast too (especially in football and baseball). Football: 3 Superbowls for Patriots, 2 for Steelers, 1 for Giants. There's only been 3 superbowls this decade which haven't been won by a team from the Northeast (2000 Rams, 2002 Bucs, 2007 Colts). Baseball: 2 Red Sox World Series Championships, 2 for the Yankees, 1 for the Phillies. Basketball: 1 Championship for the Celtics. Hoops was dominated by the West this decade.
- Best culture: Totally subjective.
- Best cities: Another no-brainer. New York City, Boston, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Providence, Hartford, Portland, Jersey City, Syracuse, Buffalo, Stamford, New Haven, Worcester, Burlington.
I voted South. The north has some nice cuisines but they mostly come from other countries re-settling there. The South, we have original cuisines that IMO are just friggin amazing. We have a nice blend of city and country. The North wins in skyline easily, after that its a dog fight among the other regions as I don't think any region really outshines the other.
