Hi. I've lived in California all my life, but I am looking to possibly relocate. Because of the nature of my job and just my preference, I'd probably be looking at fairly decent sized cities (at least 100,000 in population).

I am a minority (Asian), so I am wondering if there are ANY cities of such size, or regions, that I should avoid.

I don't want to sound naive, but I don't think I would be subject to any outright racism in any decent sized city in the USA, but I am more concerned about such things as workplace politics and/or being able to make friends.

Didn't you know? Asians are supposedly the nice minority. They seem to be welcome everywhere.
I've heard that there is a sizable vietnamese population in Houston.

Not sure where what your nationality is (your handle leads me to think you are Korean) but I've never heard of any over-the-top prejudice against asians in recent years.

I wouldn't worry about that too much.

In my experience white people are generally very nice.

Sometimes minorities(such as myself) who spent their entire youth around only other minorities may be anxious about being around mainly white people because of the stereotypes that they are racist and whatnot.

I am happy to report that in reality, for the most part, I have found that my fears were totally unfounded.

If you are worried about making friends, just be yourself and don't get caught up in Office politics.

Most of the people that I know have groups of friends that look like the United Nations. Race shouldn't be an issue
