Denver beats NYC IMO. Sure NYC is fun to visit but Denver has so much more. Its within a hour drive of some of the best skiing in the world, gets great plays at the Buell Theater, has great restaurants has all of the sports teams and a great symphony plus some of the best medical care in the west at UC Medical Center. On top of that DIA was ranked as the best U.S. airport.
Denver has so much more??? Oh my good god. Sometimes people on here dont make any sense whatsoever. Seriosuly? I second the coment about needing a helmet and living in a group home...

Anything you can do in NYC you can do in Denver and more, nothing beats the mountains. For a fraction of the cost.
Definetley New York in almost every category. However, Denver is a healthier, cleanier city with nicer public transportation. Besides that, New York kills Denver in population, economy, skyline, architecture, history, diversity, sports, culture, etc.

Denver has more of what?
So part of the reason you are choosing Denver over NYC is because DIA was ranked the best U.S. airport?

Actually, what you mean to say is that anything you can do in Denver, you can do in NYC a thousand times over, with the exception of the outdoor opportunities that Denver provides.
I don't begrudge someone saying they would prefer to live in Denver versus NYC--I wouldn't want to live in NYC either. But if we're comparing city amenities here, with the exception of cost of living and scenery, NYC crushes Denver.

Which is why everything is based in NY and the market has priced it accordingly, right? Because it's essentialy the same as denver...? (Not sure if you can hear my sarcasm)
Spoken by somebody who truly doesnt get nyc and the opportunities and lifestlye it provides. This isnt about being able to shop at gucci, ya know?
Arcitecturally speaking Denver falls flat on its face when compared to a giant like NYC. THAT SAID I still pick Denver for the following reasons:
QOL and COL are much higher/lower respectively in Denver than in NYC.
Denver has the Rockies for a back yard while NYC has a congested harbor.
I've never actually been to NYC...whereas I live 30 miles north of Denver and as such have been there numerous times for many reasons.
The NYC skyline trumps all BUT Denver's is surprisingly large for being a city of only 600,000 people compared to NYC's skyline which is far more representative of a metro of 18 million. Plus there are very few cities around here with a skyline at all so that makes Denver's even more impressive IMHO.
All considered, what has been said is also true: these two are NOT comparable in any way. Couldn't really be more different if they tried.
And FYI..Denver will beat Minneapolis on and off this forum any day of the week, and no I don't hate the Twin Cities.
Being I've now lived in both cities, the only thing Denver has over Minneapolis is the weather and light rail system (oh yeah, and the best U.S. airport ). Minneapolis wins out in just about every other category.

Oh yeah? Then let's hear you explain why QWEST, Sun Mirco Systems, and other big high-tech and communications companies are based in Denver. Let's also hear you explain why Denver ended up with a 4S hotel, has a number of convention centers and has all 4 of the major league sports teams.
the only thing denver has out of the OP's list that's noteworthy is the cost of living and scenery and even that is debatable.
come on, now.
denver vs nyc. really?? like really?? seriously?
you don't put vs in between nyc and any other city other than la and chicago as far as the u.s.
I have a hard time believing it's debatable that Denver is cheaper than NYC. As for scenery, I'd take Denver. I love the Rockies! Absolutely gorgeous!
