(Getting back to topic...)
These cities are all candidates for this thread, too. Each of them have something that draws people to them, but most of them are rarely mentioned on this forum.

Wichita, Kansas is much better then the Springs, look at this pic:

Look at Fresno:

I grant you El Paso Texas is sad but it routinely gets made fun of for lack of a sky line. So of all the cities you talk about that is the only one. Hummm sure if you want the Springs to be compared to El Paso then its on the right track.

Doing more research I should add two
Kennewick, Washington
Topeka, Kansas
Both get very little play and although they may not be big draws I don't think they're totally collapsing.

I doubt that you've been to all of the cities I've listed. The fact that you completely dismiss the list I've made simply by showing 2 pictures (any place can look good from the right angle), 2 pictures from a list of 7 or 8 cities I listed tells me that you don't have an argument. I'm sure you'll do the research and come back with all the stats on why Colorado Springs is inferior to every city in the country, but ultimately it's a matter of opinion. I know you're not a fan of Colorado Springs and I'm not going to try to turn you into one.

So is this thread about fighting over Colorado Springs and a few mountain cities?

I am not a fan of Colorado Springs but this has nothing to do with the city as even they admit they do not have a downtown worthy of a MSA over 600,000 people. That is why they consonantly have "studies" to see how they can improve their downtown the problem is they never act on a study just start a new one as soon as the old study is complete.
That city has potential, there is no denying that, but unless they act on it more and more Colorado cities, and cities in the U.S., will surpass it with better and larger downtown's.

El Paso really?
I have only seen pictures as I have never been there for a city of its size it seems kind of sad.
