Just legalize marijuana and I bet half of those murders are eliminated. What a bull sh*t drug to die for!!! (They all are though)

im pretty sure the murders are a result of heroin/crack/coke turf, not marijuana. gangs mostly deal in the wholesale of marijuana, not retail level.

It's both, and marijuana is the most commonly sold drug. It draws the highest margins because it's easy to get, popular, and more "acceptable" in society. Note: I do not deal drugs!

Alright, I don't really want to split hairs over how people are getting shot. My point was that crime would be reduced (in my opinion) by the legalization of pot. What was your point, that it wouldn't be "drastically" reduced, or reduced by half? I think you see what I am getting at...

New Orleans now has 72 murders and now has a per capita rate of 20 murders per 100,000 that actually dwarfs every major city in America. If you look at the national news you would think that Chicago is by far the the most lethally violent city in the country, when in fact, Chicago only looks like a warzone compared to New York and Los Angeles because of those cities historic declines in murders recently. Even Jesse Jackson had the nerve to speak on national tv regarding Chicago's crime problems which showed just how clueless he is by not knowing that the situation down here in New Orleans has been consistantly dire for quite some time with no signs of getting better at the moment.
