Crime does seem to but up everywhere this year for some reason.

I still can't imagine how it was here 15-20 years ago.

Violent crimes in Chicago:

1991: 90,522
2009: 33,486
2010: 30,100*

*given an 11% steady decline over the first 5 months of the year. Hopefully it holds.

A 67% drop in violent crime - that's crazy. I think for NYC it's even more. It must have been a real mess here before.

Overall crime has been declining every year but murders are holding steady or some reason or another.
