I have been to Columbus a few times for work, on the west side of town off of Cemetery Rd. I haven't really had much exposure to town other than that and driving through downtown. This thread has shown a lot of things about Columbus that I didn't know, and it seems that it is a really nice city. I don't hear about Columbus as much as many other cities of comparable size. I'm going to share some of my photos of the Charlotte area for those who have never been to our town. Hopefully these aren't too many, but I want to show some of downtown, and also some of the older neighborhoods that are rarely seen. I like it here, and really wouldn't have much of an opinion on which city is "better" as that is personal preference. I prefer CLT because of the weather, and I love the south.

Let's start with the skyline and downtown area.

These are just a few that I have taken around town. More can be seen here ---> Photo Sharing by MyPhotoAlbum :: Sights from the Road (And other Places) :: Charlotte

Charlotte is very much a nice, mid-sized city that is growing fast. A lot of the historic buildings have been sacrificed for the growth to make room for the new, bigger, modern developments.

These are great shots! Thanks for sharing with us, some examples of what makes Charlotte appealing for you.

Ok, well let’s get back to some facts. When comparing unemployment, the rates aren’t materially different when you look at the primary urban employment centers of each, and in FACT you’re more likely to be unemployed with a college degree in Columbus than in Charlotte….

Charlotte-Gastonia-Concord MSA
Less than a high school diploma ...20.6%
High school graduates, no college ...15.5%
Some college or associate degree ...9.4%
Bachelor’s degree and higher …7.1%

Columbus MSA
Less than a high school diploma …17.3%
High school graduates, no college ...12.7%
Some college or associate degree ....6.9%
Bachelor’s degree and higher ...6.2%

Charlotte city

High school graduates, no college ...19.3%
Some college or associate degree ...8.2%
Bachelor’s degree and higher ...7.4%

Columbus city
Less than a high school diploma ...27.1%
High school graduates, no college ...15.7%

Wow, those numbers are so far apart! Not! And in half of those numbers, both cities take over a higher % than the other.

I'm glad you agree with me. That's the exact point I was making, that both cities have essentially the same numbers regarding unemployment.

Default Columbus, Top City For African Americans In U.S.

News to Use!

A recent study has shown that Columbus is ON TOP with a respectable # 1 ranking of all US cities for African Americans.
Charlotte also made the top 5, coming in with a ranking of # 4.
It's also worth noting that Columbus has the lowest AIDS infection rate of any major city in this study that has been released by BET. This is fantastic news, and it speaks volumes about Columbus'
ever emerging African American middle class community.

Default Columbus' "High Five", Explore Something Fantastic!

Hey, here's a great way to "explore" some of the great urban districts that comprise and surround the burgeoning city centre of Columbus! It's an interactive website that allows you to visit each distinct district by "choosing a color coded area" ... just "click and explore" along the "High Five", 5 miles of beautiful architecture, urban living, fine dining, arts & sports and upscale residential living. After choosing a district, one can visit a separate website that is unique to that specific area of Columbus.

Check it out here

Columbus High Five | Five Miles. Five Districts. Countless encounters.
