If your current employer wanted you to relocate and gave you the option to live in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia or Tampa Bay area of Florida, where would you decide to move and why?

I would choose hampton Roads for several reasons:

1-Closest to Richmond, VA and the Northeast Megalopis
2-Has four seasons
3-Has diverse population
4-More friendly to African-Americans

In Southeastern Virginia; its metropolitan name is Virginia Beach-Norfolk-Newport News.

VA all the way. Better mass transit, better schools, more diverse, has 4 seasons, and just seems like a prety cool little metro area. It's population is almost identical to that of Milwaukee and it borders a huge mega-region (DC) just like we do.

Nah, Tidewater sucks compared to Tampa.

Not trying to disagree with you (even though I do), but Tampa also borders a huge mega-region (Miami) along with a similarly-sized metro (Orlando). Of course this is all about opinion, but it's better if people have all the facts with which to form their opinions.

Although Tampa Bay is larger and has more amenities, living there 2 years was more than enough for me. Give me the Seven Cities of Hampton Roads.

I do like the Gulf Beaches better than the Atlantic Beaches though. However, it's pretty cheap to fly to Florida from the North, so I can fly there to get my beach fix.
