There are many things about our United States that make it beautiful. Hopefully there isn't already a similar thread like this, but what does each state bring to the table individually as far as it's beauty is concerned.
In your eyes, what is the most beautiful/attractive part of each state?
Oh, and just so I'm clear, make sure it is a state you've been to. Don't include the ones you haven't.
These are based only off of what I've seen of each state:
Arizona - Northern Arizona, The Grand Canyon
California - Sierra Nevada, Mount Shasta and the area north of Redding up to the Oregon border, San Gabriel Mountains, San Bernardino Mountains, Kern River Valley, Mojave Desert, the Pacific Ocean
Colorado - Anywhere in the mountains
Idaho - The Panhandle, anywhere from Moscow northward is HEAVEN.
Kansas - Eastern Kansas. Looks straight out of a Mark Twain novel.
Michigan - DTW
Minnesota - MSP
Missouri - Ummm... Kansas City (only place I've been)
Montana - Western Montana, from Missoula westward
Nebraska - The road between Sidney and Alliance, idyllic in a way
Nevada - Reno
New Mexico - White Sands
New York - Upstate
Oklahoma - The panhandle.
Oregon - The I-5 corridor, Hood River, Mount Hood
South Dakota - The Black Hills, Mount Rushmore, Rapid City
Texas - Amarillo
Utah - The drive between Cedar City and Richfield
Washington - Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, Mt. Baker, the I-5 corridor, and Eastern Washington north of the Palouse and east of the desert, (from Fishtrap eastward) more HEAVEN.
Wyoming - Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, the sheer isolation of the rest of the state.
This is my offering for people who may not be aware of how beautiful each state is, independent of the cities.
Alabama - Natural beauty. Where people don't live, it's very pretty...delicate trees...soft landscapes. The Highlands neighborhood in Birmingham is wonderful. Mountain Brook is lovely (read Southern Living magazine to see the gorgeous neighborhood gardens).
California - Lake Tahoe - quite pleasant. Cliffs near San Francisco are incredible!
Colorado - Hiking fourteeners - views from Independence Pass are like God personally blessing you. Sheer rock walls going into Boulder are awesome. Breckenridge in summer and winter.
Connecticut - Driving through little villages, winding through the woods on shaded roads, crossing rivers.
Florida - So many birds! Wildlife..reptiles...sea life....ancient ferns. Hiking through deep muddy swamps. Gorgeous aquamarine colors of the ocean as you drive the Seven Mile bridge in the Keys. Bougainvillea. Horse farms in Ocala. Turtle Mound in NSB. Tubing down the different springs.
Georgia - Silhouettes of pecan trees in the moonlight.
Hawaii - Canyon area of Kauai. The smell of plumeria drifting through the air.
Louisiana - Grand oak trees in New Orleans.
Missouri - Clover fields in Forest Park. Discovering that Turtle Playground is a playground with turtle sculptures, not a playground for turtles (a bummer, really. I was hoping to see a three striped mud turtle hooping it up.)
Nevada - Mountains between Reno and Tahoe.
New Mexico - The blue, blue sky.
New York - The brilliance of the green grass in parks throughout NYC. Upstate - gentle swells of the mountains near Syracuse.
North Carolina - The waterfalls!!! Hiking in Western NC. Tubing.
Oregon - The coastline. The comforting patter of raindrops in the winter.
Rhode Island - Wonderful fragrant roses growing next to the beaches.
Tennessee - Autumn leaves. Rolling hills.
Texas - The warmth of the residents.
Washington - The smell of lavender filling the air in summertime. The "am I looking at a picture or is it real" natural views.
