I am currently living just north of Melbourne FL and am considering moving over to St Petersburg area to go to school. I am looking for info on schools, cost of living and basic environment for two small children. Although this area is very familiar, I have lived in the South Tampa area before and like it.

I wouldn't live directly in St Pete if I had Children. The city has taken a turn for the worst. But there are plenty of other places in Pinellas county that are great, like Largo, Pinellas Park, or Clearwater. In Hillsborough county; South Tampa, New Tampa, Carrollwood, and Brandon are all areas that are nice for children.

Thanks for pointing that out TB, I remember hearing that when I lived there before. Although I thought they were trying to improve the area near to the pier?

I am looking in to St Pete Jr College and Pinellas Tech for schools, but I probably wouldn't live in St Pete anyway because I'd want to have fairly easy access to the main roads if I want to go in to Tampa or to the Airport. What do you know about the schools in that area, or the those particular schools? Are there a lot of parks around?

Im not real familiar with Pinellas county. I've heard the schools within the city of St Pete can be pretty bad. But there are better ones in the suburbs. I believe there are plenty of parks aswell.

Have you gone on the Tampa Bay thread? You can get more knowledge from people who know the area a bit better. Hope that helps.

LOL seriously? Tampa/st.Pete. And with that Pinellas since you already live on the beaches. Schools there are not bad. st. Pete they can be a bit rough but Clearwater, Tarpon Springs, Largo are okay!

Okay so what are you trying to say here exactly? That you think it would be a bad move?
