Because its not a lively downtown of people. Just buildings.People dont really go to Miami for its downtown. They go to South Beach or other places in the area where people lve to hang out.Its slowly changing but now its just nice to look at from a distance.

Its been years since I was last in LA but my friends have all told me of the progress downtown has made.

I think the most important indicator of how vibrant and dynamic a city's downtown can be is the number of residents. Up and coming Downtowns that come to mind are San Diego, Denver, Charlotte, Kansas City.

Both seattle and DC have more people living in their downtown. I would say DTLA is the 8th largest population wise in the country, that's not impressive seeing as it's the second largest city. It's nice to see downtown finally booming, I wouldn't be surprised if DTLA passes seattle within the next 5 years.

It's quite impressive considering it had only 34,000 in 2008. As of 2016 the downtown population nearly doubled in less than 8 years which is quite amazing and still growing.

Yeah I never said that aspect wasn't impressive. It's actually immensely impressive. I just stated being number 8 was not, which as I also stated I'm sure will change if the growth of our downtown continues the way that it has been.
