id agree La isnt as bad but if were talking in gangs/drug the whole 9 yards La wins it by far theres hardly a comparison La if u research anywhere else is the worst city in the us for those reasons
Having lived in both areas for a total of 35 years (!), I would say...it's a tossup. L. A. probably has more volume (as it has (roughly) 3 times the people as South Florida), but the traffic is so bad in the Miami area because (IMO), they are 25-30 years behind So. California in traffic management.
To follow up, at least in South Florida, the traffic is only really bad during the rush hours (with a few exceptions, like the Palmetto Expressway), whereas in L. A., it can be bad from like 5 AM to 8-9 PM, and on some roads on weekends (daytime) as well. And this was the case when I moved from the L. A. area in mid-1998, probably even worse 13 years later!
I haven't driven in LA, but I have to admit the drivers in Miami are the worst. They really are inconsiderate. If you put on your turn signal, they speed up so you can't get in then. So nobody uses turn signals, and they cut you off as they want. Miami is one of the few cities where driving was a stressful experience for me.
LA has horrible traffic obviously, much larger city. The drivers are pretty considerate for a large city though. Miami drivers are straight up garbage and very rude. There's a saying that "everyone gets a licence there out of cereal boxes" and I agree with that.

LA worse overall traffic (at all hours); Miami drivers the absolute worst, nothing comes close. Red lights and stop signs are merely suggestions.
