Houston's 95 sq mile inner loop (which is what I consider the actual city like atmosphere in the city) is just as comparable to the city of Atlanta. Outside of the loop is when it becomes rapidly suburban. But most of the activities that most people would think as urban belongs in Houston's inner loop.

Sorry, maybe I should clarify. I wasn't talking down about Houston being 580 square miles...I was meaning I don't understand how in the 580 sq miles, I don't understand why they can't find room to utilize the bay.

I've heard Galveston is beautiful. I was talking about the city-proper.

They are actually trying and you have lots of events that go in Galveston. It's kind of Spring Break hotspot. Also Moody Gardens, Downtown Galveston, Schlitterbahn, and more

Glad to hear it! I still think Houston would be a much better city if downtown was closer (or even on) the Bay. I suppose it's a personal preference though.

I'm not sure that would be a good idea given that Galveston Bay can act like a funnel when it comes to storm surges from hurricanes and tropical storms. Safety wise it's probably better Houston is located away from the water.

I've never been to Houston but have hear of this cool waterfront boardwalk area called Kemah Boardwalk:

Miami gears itself towards vacationers and its climate is better for vacationers throughout the year.

Plus southern parts of the Houston metro area are slowly sinking.

Miami but I think Orlando may have it beat but since its not part of the big 4 Miami wins by default.

No doubt Miami is tops on this list for tourism, but for me it would be dead last as a place to live. I already did that, and it was no picnic.
For living, I would say:

Atlanta
Dallas
Houston
Miami
