What is the main differences between outlets malls and enclosed regional malls?

Where is each located? How do stores differ? Is one better than the other?

Why do some areas have just a regional mall and no outlet malls?

How do the size of outlet malls compare?

real outlet malls have closeouts and discontinued items at very good prices.

They are usually in the outer burbs of large metro areas.

That's true. The real outlet malls I've seen are usually in the middle of nowhere.

It would be nice to get rid of the big box stores and go back to the good old days of "mom and pop" type stores... unfortunately, these huge national chains will usually be able to sell products cheaper unless we stand up to them and Americans stop shopping at them

He meant outer burbs of urban areas, but in rural sticks. The outlet mall in the sticks have been going defunct. Most outlet malls are in between major cities or near a major city. Pismo Beach Outlets are near Fresno. Napa is near San Francisco. The Livermore outlets in construction are going to be near Oakland. There is an outlet mall near Riverside, and another near San Bernardino. Also a couple outlet malls near San Diego. Camarillo outlets are for LA and the citadel outlets for OC and Long Beach. Gilroy Outlets is for San Jose. Also there is 2 near Sacramento, one in Roseville and one in Vacaville.

Outlet malls cator to a bunch of counties.
Regional malls and power centers cator to regional needs or local needs.

Regional malls are usually located in areas with a large population or high-income area.
Lifestyle centers, the new type of mall, cators especially to upper middle class areas (areas with a med. income of 100,000K)

The California Outlet Mall that I like is the one on Hwy 10 near Palm Springs.

The outlet centers that are closest to Fresno are in Tulare (about a 1 hour drive) and Gilroy (about 2 hours). The Pismo outlet center is just under a 3 hour drive from Fresno.

SOOOO true. I've seen this in Texas plenty of times with San Marcos Outlets, just in the middle of NOWHERE! Just right of the interstate. I never knew why they have the Outlet malls so secluded. I guess it might be for tourist reasons, or if you need a QUICK stop to buy some Gucci clothing, on your way to your destination. It's funny, because these outlet malls USUALLY have HIGH END retail stores, like Gucci, and Louis Viton stores, just out in the middle of no where. You stop to use the restroom, you come out with a Gucci shirt.LOL
