Now that the winter olympics are over, which city do you think was a better host; Vancouver or Salt Lake City? Why?

Vancouver was ridden with problems. The tragic death of the luger, the opening ceremony malfunction, the awkward torch transition out of BC Place, the lack of snow, the cancelling of many tickets at the lower mountain Cypress.

However, at the end of the games, things looked up. Canada won the gold in Ice Hockey, and overall a moderate success. I would say, overall, somewhat below SLC, but not a bad overall games. Certainly some good moments. I think it is important to remember how complex it is to pull off this type of an event.

Vancouver.

1) Way bigger city, way more international. Largest city to ever hold the winter olympics.

2) Vancouer is way more beautiful then SLC. It is quite dramatic seeing the mountains rise straight up out of the ocean.

I think when all is said and done more people will remember the Vancouver Olympics over SLC.

SLC. Didn't have the problems that plagued Vancouver, and I think the Winter Olympics works better in smaller cities.

NBC scored pretty good ratings with the 2010 winter olympics. This will still go down as one of the most memorable Olympics in recent memory.

probably will. Has nothing to do with the hosts, though. And SLC's surrounding area is just as beautiful as Vancouver as well. But Vancouver is a BEAUTIFUL city. The Pacific Northwest area and Canadian Southwest intrigues me.

By the way there is no such thing as the Canadian "southwest" as far as a term goes.

But you are right, this is a beautiful part of the world =)
