I'm in Manhattan and all the honking annoys me. Cabbies honk at everyone and they hold their horn like that is actually going to make a difference. I would like a law where their horns are hooked up to their fare meters and deductions are made when they honk!!

Personally, I think people honk more in suburbs than cities. Damn soccer-moms in their SUV's thinking they own the road.
Don't know the last time you were in Manhattan, but there is PLENTY of honking (especially downtown) - including me directing it at the crazy taxi drivers.

Miami is the second city that honk the most. Miami had the crown with the most aggresive drivers. Now NYC has the crown back with the most aggresive drivers. Miami is in the second place now.

LOL there is already a law in NYC about honking. However nobody cares about the law. People honk in NYC (including the 5 boroughs) because NYers are impatient. And green light means go lol not stop for pedestrian.

What are you talking about? How much time do you spend in Miami?
I lived there and didn't notice an extreme amount of honking at all.

No because I am Italian and I have that hot latin blood too when I get really angry. It's a fact not an opinion. In general it's true, but individually it may not be the case with all people that have some latin blood in them. I said latin blood..Not latino blood because I have never heard of the phrase latino blood before. When I say latin it means the blood of people from Latin origins.

He's talking about the rankings they had of cities with the most aggressive drivers. What he is saying is not just opinion. Here is the links...

By "downtown" do you mean "Midtown?" Cause to me there seems to be more honking in Midtown Manhattan than Downtown.

I will admit I haven't been to NYC in awhile but I have never heard so much car honking in my life. It was all the cab drivers in Manhattan and I didn't pay attention to what nationality they were. It was ridiculous, they honked at every intersection when the light turned green to tell everyone the light had changed as if everybody else was driving blind! I saw a woman with out of state plates pull to the side and beat her steering wheel and was sobbing the cabbies intimated her that much. It was one of the few things I didn't like about Manhattan. I was in Chicago last summer and never even notice cars honking.

It is very interesting to observe driving habits from city to city. For instance, I noticed in LA they often do a double-honk, while in Chicago it is one, longer honk.

To answer your question, I would say no, people in Chicago do not honk as much as other cities, especially NYC. They may have the same impatient driving habits as those other cities, but they don't honk to show it, they'll just cut you off. I said Boston instead, although I don't really have anything to back it up.
