Internationally it's Philly. Most of the people I know from other countries know more about Philly than Atlanta

Philadelphia--America's Primate City.

I fell in love with Center City when I stopped over from I-95 from NYC to DC.

Now this is city data and yall know the culture of city data, everything is about density that regardless of the topic so Atlanta has no chance of winning this thread I don't even know why he or she started this? I mean look at the 2nd post "booster mentions the Olympics" I'm failing to understand how bring up something relevant to the topic about Atlanta is automatically boasting. Than OP who's from philly came back and said one.

the culture of city data
Atlanta vs Philadelphia
Atlanta vs. Philly
Atlanta or Philadelphia

1. How about this, I'am not going to bring up the Centennial Olympics in 96.
2. I'm not going to bring up Heartfield-Jackson being the busiest airport in the world.
3. let's leave out Atlanta is a top 10 convention city and philly is not. Top 10 host cities of conventions
4. lets ignore Atlanta is in the tenth most visited cities and philly is not. the_ten_most_visited_cities_in_the_united_states.
5. lets ignore Atlanta beats Philly in the number of new international residents from 2000-2009 www.city-data.com/forum/city-vs-city/new-international-residents-gained-2000-2009-
6. lets ignore Atlanta ranks highier as a global city "The World According to GaWC 2008

This thread is about name Recognition right? Those are a few points you think would make this poll atleast close but none of that matters it's a sunbelt city vs an east coast city. Not only will philly win, it's going to be a blow out. It's like people are going aht philly

Judging by the OP agreeing that bringing up points about Atlanta in a Atlanta vs philly thread is automatically boasting, or comparing Atlanta to Philly is boasting, he or she has a superior complex. And knowing about the anti-Sun belt attitudes on city data this thread was started for Atlanta to lose.

Yaaaay, Atlanta had the Olympics.....back during Clinton's first term, almost 14 years ago.

Since we're doing history, Atlanta is the only US city purposely (if not justifiably) burned to the ground by the US Army (thank you, General Sherman), isn't it?

The response was not a guess, it was fact after it was brought up so i was just answering the question.

Honestly I do not set the topic for any to win or lose, both a great cities and in many ways tough to compare. I actually started these threads for two reasons:

1 - There are a few people on here who bash Philly or anything in the NE; that i dont understand, but I amy partial and trust me NE cities and Philly have many warts.

2 - The topics are basically re-created from earlier threads, so if you are gonna blame me also blame the ones who created other comparisons; that being said Atlanta has nearly the population of Philly so from that perspective it could be a good comparison.

Overall I have my preferences but rarely find any city that I can't enjoy in my travels and in terms of Atlanta I really the last 15 years have been some great improvement; the city seems to closing the gap on on growth and maturing pretty well; Midtown is just one example and continues to get better IMHO.

So lastly it is just a stupid poll, people vote; none of this really means anything anyway

Happy Easter!

I am puzzled over this designation as "America's Primate City".

I was born and raised in Philly and I have never heard of it being referred in this manner.

Please enlighten me.

I am a bit curious, you boast in the Atlanta vs Houston thread and then nothing here or as you say this was set up for Atlanta to lose; to the contrary in many ways I always feel that Philly is under-recognized especially relative to size, importance, and geographic sandwich. But I am curious why you say this was set up for Atlanta to lose?

The premise and verbage are identical to Atlanta vs. Houston thread so please explain?

Also I am not saying I dont love my city but you appear to also be quite the Atlanta booster and if you are a happy resident why not, but to say I put this here for Atlanta to lose? Then was the Houston vs Atlanta put there for Houston to lose, wouldn't that be basically the same premise? just curious...
