I voted for Houston simply based on population numbers, but we all know importance wise, on a national & global scale DC wins.

I think, just judging by how important it is, Houston. Why the heck is DC even on this poll? Now it may not be very big but I think Denver should be a candidate. Denver is one of the largest inland hub cities for almost everything and has some of the strongest economies in the nation (it also has the "Wall Street Of The West" aka 17th Street).

If you're going by MSA, then it's actually Dallas by a bit.

If you're going on city population, then that's basically a useless measure.

If you're going on economic importance than it would be Houston or San Francisco, but Dallas would still be ahead of Philly or DC by a bit.

I know a lot of people on here really hate Dallas, but it's honestly the best choice for this.

Dallas doesn't even come close to DC - seriously

I mean come on - there is a ton of blind loyalty to the TX cities and they are great in their own sense but can't hold a candle to DC

DC should not even be on this list. DC is either 1 or 2 after New York. Chicago is no where near as relevant as DC, and LA is becoming less and less in comparison to DC metro every year. Try again with that 4th city stuff!

Sorry, but I completely, emphatically disagree with you. The political clout of a city isn't everything. I understand the DC pride, but seriously, DC is nowhere near as relevant as NYC or LA, or even Chicago. It has a place on this list, and it has the most votes, so I think it's right where it belongs.

It's simple. This is the list of most important cities in the US.
1 - New York, NY
2 - Chicago, IL
3 - Los Angeles, CA
And the Winner is - Washington, DC for me simply because its GDP and for being the nations capital.
