That's boring. What's the purpose of having streets, sidewalks, public transit and more above ground than?? That makes no sense.

most of the foot traffic in dt Houston now is underground. I was there a few weeks ago during lunch hour and it drove me crazy. too many people. I went back above ground quick.

Downtown really needs some clothing stores. What average person shops at Neiman-Marcus?

exactly, but when the sidewalks get as dense as the ones in the pictures wouldn't it just drive you nuts?

The downtown streets of San Antonio is not that bad, but when I lived there even that amount of people drove me nuts.

but for some reason when I am on vacation I don't mind it. I didn't mind it in europe... well in the underground of London I did, I encountered a lot of smelly people.

That reminds me, the rail in Houston gets out of hand too. Look how packed it gets:

both cities need a new major shopping center in their downtowns. I've always said this would help their CBDs, but nobody seems to agree with me

....and please, please something better than Houston Pavilions

Man, we had some big stores back in the 80s. They all closed. The last one to close was H.L. Green & Co in 1997. We had big Dallas based store like Sanger-Harris and Titche-Goettinger (later Joske's). Neiman-Marcus is the only store in Downtown.
