It's not that hard of a task to get good Chinese or Vietnamese. You just have to get on a train.

Instead of getting on a train, I rented a car and did just that, drove to Arlington and it was still so so.

Do you like going to the suburbs for good food?

Look, if you want guaranteed access to great Asian food, don't move from the west coast. Although, you really have to go out to Fairfax. Arlington only has a couple good Vietnamese restaurants and they're quite hit-or-miss depending on the day (the one Rosslyn is rumored to water down the broth during the lunch rush to keep up with demand). My gf has had a lot of experience with Vietnamese food in Orange County, Washington Ave in Philly and Tyson's Corner in Fairfax and says the Virginia Vietnamese food is quite good.

No, I would like great access to food. Just normal good American food or good ethnic food. Its not as if I am asking for too much here...

Its not like the food there will kill you but it wont leave you saying you ever want to go back to DC just because it has decent food.

The point of all this is, youre not on Chicago's level for food. Period. Has nothing to do with "good Asian food on the westcoast". Ive had better desi food in Chicago than I have in either LA or San Francisco and Chicago's not on the westcoast..

On which cuisine do you think DC is better than Chicago? Just curious.

I was on 7th Street during Inaugural Weekend and saw this big group squeezing into this station wagon cab. It was hilarious to the point that everyone on the street had their phones out taking pictures of it. The girls in the back even rolled down the windows and had their feet dangling out the back. It was pretty funny.

I think this cab looks modern compared to the cab I saw. I've never understood why DC has so many old cabs.
