I am thinking of going to either La Lumiere School in La Porte or Lake Forest Academy in Lake Forest
Where should I go?
Which town is nicer?
Which is closer to major cities

I can't imagine a nicer (or wealthier) community than Lake Forest. Considering that it is a suburb of Chicago, I'd say that it's pretty close to a major city.

Isn't Lake forest close to Chicago? If you're wanting to be closer to a bigger city, then go to that one. I almost went to prep school in Lake Forest in high school to play Ice hockey. It would have been a fun experience if I had went through with it.

LaLumiere is a bit further from the heart of Chicago (about 60 miles east). Lake Forest is 26 miles north.
