I have never heard about Decatur's role during the Civil War or the Civil Rights Movement, nor have I known it to be a magnet for the black middle class. It's a very nice city and I agree that it's one of the best Atlanta suburbs, but I'm not sure about the rest. Atlanta was more of what you describe than Decatur.

Im going to bed you guys are tripping seriously...every comment posted has been negative...If you have no idea about the community do some research instead of lashing out b.s. In the past both these cities played critical roles in the development of the black middle class and "Yes" Decatur did play a part in the civil rights movement.

I've lived in and around Decatur for 20 years and this is something I've never heard of. Where did you get that information?

Historically, Auburn Avenue in Atlanta was known as the area for wealthy and middle class blacks beginning around the turn of the century. As far as I know, Decatur has never had any kind of prominent role like they one you described.
