Having lived in the West my whole life, I definitely want to move across the country to see whats up. I want to live in an older, dense, urban city just because I think it would be a good experience for me. Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, DC, and New York are the cities I am considering.

But those cities listed are the only places in those regions I would ever consider living in...so it feels weird putting the midwest as a region I want to move to considering Chicago is the only midwestern city that remotely interests me (to live in that is, but I'd be down for spending time in other cities of course).

Career/money prospects aside I guess I would rank them like this:

1. Midwest/East Tie (the cities I listed are the only ones I am considering and I only want to live in one of them, so whichever region I choose removes the other from contention)
2. Somewhere else in the West/South Tie (the west is a big place, so I feel like I could move to Denver or Honolulu and have as different of an experience as I could moving to Miami or Dallas)

I personally could not become an ex-Patriot for the sake of personal living preferences. For instance I loved visiting Paris, Rome and Beijing but becoming a member of another country is a pretty big deterrant for me and I'd sooner live in somewhere terrible (like Minnesota ) than cross borders. So here's my preference:

1.) Midwest – not ideal in terms of weather but more ideal in terms of education and family values, which are more important to me at this point in my life.
a. Chicago, Madison, Columbus, St. Louis, Detroit and Cleveland (yes, I just said Detroit and Cleveland!)
2.) East – more similar to the Midwest in terms of values as well of culture and way of living that I am accustomed to – more urban.
a. Cities include D.C., Boston, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Pittsburgh
3.) West – culture “neutral” in my opinion and full of natural beauty and mild climates
a. Cities include Seattle, San Francisco and Denver
4.) South – culturally the most different to me and personally the weather is less than desirable to a Northerner who likes the winter (at times). I still want to take an extensive road trip down South and learn more about it.
a. Cities include Atlanta, Dallas, Houston and Austin

Currently live in Florida (South). I'm currently looking at relocating to Oklahoma City but its a bit ambiguous and most of the other places I'm looking at are Midwest so I'll put that as number 1. South would then be 2. Northeast for 3. And I would never ever go West Coast. I would say I applied for a job in San Juan and if that were included in this survey it would probably be my top choice - close to home but very European, and I have some very good friends there. I'll put it as #4

1. Midwest
2. South
3. Northeast
4. San Juan, PR

I can't come up with an order, since many places are tied for me. But here are the cities I'd consider living in for each region:

western- San Diego, Denver, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, San Francisco

southern- Austin, Dallas, Miami, Charlotte

Midwest- Chicago, Madison, maybe a few others but I don't know much about Midwestern cities

eastern- Boston, Philly, DC area, somewhere in Connecticut

Living near Boston, would consider a move to:

Midwest: Chicago, Milwaukee, Madison, Minn-St. Paul;
South: No thanks..
West: curious about the Bay Area, LA and Portland, but only for vacations; CA is very expensive, and lacks the winter temps that I need...

As far as other Eastern locations are concerned, I'd rather just stay in New England.....

If I move I'd prolly try to stay in the East. I live in Albany for school but I'm back home in NYC/LI for the summer.

East (stay in NYC area, Philadelphia, Boston, DC)
West ( Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix)
Southern (Austin, Dallas only really)
Midwestern (Chicago, Minneapolis)

I live in the Southern Region now.
I want to move back to the Eastern Region.
Next would be the Midwest...followed by Western and last would be here, Southern Region.
