I can't do Denver because of the terrible air pollution there. What good is outdoors if I'm going to be choking.

Besides from Kansas City I could easily take a weekend excursion to the Rockies or the Appalachians.

I would love to hear what people have to say...
Let's start the discussion
NYC:
Super powerful economy
The home of 42 Fortune 500 companies (headquarters).
One of the very few walkable cities of the U.S.
Excellent nightlife
Mass transit system
Great Amenities
Low Crime
Beautiful places
etc etc.

Houston:
24 Fortune 500 companies (2nd best economy in the U.S.)
Low cost of living and high salaries.
A good place to raise a family.

Default Reply to all posts....

It seems like its very hard to agree which city has the most to offer based on the criteria. Its a lively discussion especially NYC vs. Chicago..

Please continue posting based on the criteria.

Thanks for all the input.

Those primate cities I listed, they don't get "competition" from other cities in their country, so it's a no brainier as to why they're the best in their country and the fact that NYC not being a primate city and having to deal with regional competition can still out do majority of those cities abroad says quite a lot.

.
Wow that was beautiful.

Also - Paris, London and Tokyo are capital cities of their respective countries.

The UK, French and Japanese government subsidizes London, Paris and Tokyo and pumps billions and billions of dollars into those cities in order to prop them up and keep them stable. New York City doesn't have that benefit.

New York City, a simple commerce city, still manages to outdo them (and every other city in the world) when it comes to power/economy/wealth.

Japan has 127 million people
8.5 million live in Tokyo
21.1 million live in other urban cities in Japan.

EndersDrift, I respectfully disagree, notice from my post, I did say metro area/city area in my post.

Greater Tokyo Area - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Almost 36 million people live in the Tokyo metro. (35.6 million)

28.6% of Japan's total population lives in that metro area, and I'm talking about it being a primate city because of Japan's total urban population.

Honshu is the most developed island with 107 million people, and please note not all of those people live in cities.

35.6/107 million and this is excluding the villagers and fishermens.

Honshū - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tokyo: Primate City
