What are you thoughts on the article? I think Tampa and Raleigh are now the hotspots in their state as opposed to Charlotte and Miami. Also it seems a couple of medium size metros are growing up...

Raleigh has been growing rapidly for decades. 40 years ago, Raleigh was the 4th largest city in NC. Today it's the second largest. Charlotte has always been the largest city in the state but the Triangle's growth rate has actually been faster and nowhere has this been more evident than in Wake Co. (Raleigh).
Both Charlotte and Raleigh will continue to grow rapidly. But, you will be hearing a lot more about Raleigh in this decade.

I wouldn't say Tampa is more of a "hotspot" than Miami though. No pun intended.

Not always, but for a while now. Before Charlotte, it was Winston-Salem. I think Charlotte overtook it sometime in the 1920's or 1930's. And before Winston-Salem, it was probably Wilmington; not sure about that though.
