Greatest team in NFL history (85 bears)
Greatest team in NBA history (96/97 Bulls)
Bears have more history/are a more storied team than the Pats
Cubs>RedSox
Blackhawks own the Bruins
I'm bias though but then again this is an opinionated question like 90% of the topics on this forum
In any case Chicago and Boston are the greatest sports cities in the U.S
The 85 Bears were not the greatest team in NFL history, top 10 yes, but no where near #1.
I'd say there were very close to #1, if not #1. I just find it hard to choose against a team who went undefeated. God, I wish the Pats had won in '08.
Top 5 maybe, but IMO some of those late 80's early 90's 49er teams were just as good if not better, and I'll even throw the '99 Rams in there and the '08 Pats, despite not winning the ring.

Actually I would say they were easily 1 or 2 by most sports writers accounts. If not, who was better?
that was Payton in his prime, From November 3rd through the 24th, Chicago outscored Detroit, Dallas and Atlanta 104-3.
They didn't have a point scored on them in the playoffs...then destroyed the patriots 46-10 in the super bowl.
They had 14 games where people only scored 10 points or less on them.
NFL Defensive player of the year Mike Singletary
NFL Offensive player of the year Walter Payton
NFL Coach of the year Mike Ditka
" In 2007, the 1985 Bears were ranked as the second greatest Super Bowl championship team on the NFL Network's documentary series America's Game: The Super Bowl Champions, ranking behind the 1972 Dolphins. Many sources, however, such as ESPN, rate the 1985 Chicago Bears as the greatest NFL team of all-time.[2]"
so, top 10, now it is top 5? uh huh..
anyway the 89 and 84 niners along with the dolphins and some of the steelers teams are definitely up there.
Can the Pats really count for Boston since they are too ashamed of that city to put it in their name?
The New England moniker is a reflection of the stadium's proximity to Providence. Essentially the team is in two markets, hence the larger geographic designation. They were the Boston Pats before moving to Foxboro.

Too bad they don't give medal for story telling in the Olympics... Chicago would win them all...
But not the chance to actually host the Olympics....
It might be hard to argue against the '08 Patriots for the best offense ever.
no offense, but as far as I am concerned, you have to win the championship in order to be considered. the 91-94 bills had a lot of talent but gets no credit, and they shouldn't.
