If this is the best you guys can come up with then NYC really does have it all.....
1. Not subjective. NYC surfing sucks.
2. Have you been to Cedar Point? Some of the worlds tallest rollercoasters.. ya, 5 year olds can't ride them. Geez it seemed like last year when I boated to Put N Bay, drank all day on the boat / bars, then boated to Cedar Point hung out there for a while and went back to Put N Bay for a night of booze filled fun. God I miss being 5 years old.

Go back to Seychelles in Croatia...
oh wait that's Africa and you've never been there
I meant the Dalmatian Islands in Croatia and Seychelles in Africa. Both knock anything I've seen in Hawaii out of the park. And yes, I've been to both a few times. Hawaii has no beaches, because they suck compared to both.
And yes, NYC's "bad" surfing it's subjective. NYC has beaches, period. Get over it.

Tell that to my surfing friends
And for someone so adamant about using the term subjective, you are so quick to dismiss other peoples views about beaches
Something NYC doesn't have, hmm... a middle class. Just joking. What New York doesn't have is a good natural setting.
The city didn't arise because of it's surrounding beauty, it became the city it is today because it is the quintessential port town. While southern BK, some of eastern BX, and eastern Staten Island (although who the hell cares about Staten Island) have nice views of the Atlantic and the Long Island bays, the rest of the city looks at the Hudson, Harlem, and East Rivers, which aren't terrible, but aren't great either. What makes a city like Chicago nice is the lake, where you can escape to the water and feel completely distant from the urbanism for a little while.
Secondly, NYC is relatively flat. If it had some of the hills or mountainous setting that cities like Seattle, Denver, SF, or even LA have, the city would be even more desirable.
all of that is subjective, tho.
what is "good?" beauty is in the eye of the beholder. what some ppl deem "good," other ppl couldn't care less about.
i've lived in an area with mountains as a backdrop before...and i couldn't care less whether or not nyc has everest in the background or if it has the hills of areas in cali, etc. etc. i don't need a hill or a mountain or a body of water to make me satisfied about the beauty of this city.
also, this city is bigger than "natural beauty." a lot of ppl take HUMANS for granted. nyc is like a wonder of the world. how on earth did ppl have the ingenuity to create something like nyc. nyc has been the way it is for a long, long time. when you look at pics from the 1800's and early 1900's, and look at pics now, its amazing to see the size of it back then and how a lot of it is unchanged from now.
to me, its like other things are beautiful. when i'm on the av and i hear mr softee in the background, here the guy talking about uptowns in the back, get an icee from the man on the street, maybe a slice...to me, thats beauty. when i ride the train and a band starts playing and somebody starts singing, thats beauty.
etc. etc. some ppl are into nature. cool. you can get that here, as we proved earlier in the thread...
i'm into PEOPLE. i like people watching. i like urban landscapes. i like trains, movement, ideas, competition, fashion, music, etc.
i find beauty in these things. beauty is bigger than what one can see IMHO, anyway and its bigger than a tree in a forrest or a bear catching a fish or whatever else ppl not from ny want in ny.
Montreal has:
- an official second language (English) and first language (French)
- Poutine
- Viande Fumee
- Montreal style bagels (different from NYC bagels - not worse, not better, but different and equally good)
- A mountain in the center of the city with a giant cross on it
- A casino in the city (Canada's largest, for that matter)
- Milk in plastic bags
- Les Depanneurs
all of that is subjective, tho.

Yeah I agree. A lack of a natural setting wouldn't stop me from moving to New York. But how amazing would it be to have the New York skyline with a mountain as a background setting or be able to climb up steep hills in Central Queens or Southern Bronx and get a 360 view of the city and all the varying neighborhoods.
Secondly, NYC is relatively flat. If it had some of the hills or mountainous setting that cities like Seattle, Denver, SF, or even LA have, the city would be even more desirable.
There are areas of the northwest Bronx that are very hilly.
Lmao, you're getting a little too technical with that one.
Eh, dont think either are too technical. Some other cities have direct subway line access/pro football stadium, NYC doesn't. Whether its a big deal is up for debate, much like everything else.
If i wanted to get silly i could say that NYC doesn't have non-yellow commissioned Taxis. BTW, I have no idea if this is true (besides limo's of course) and have not tried to confirm this by any means.
Toronto has: Single detached (also duplex etc) victorian houses w/ yards on both sides and a seperate garage, in downtown.
