What cant you do in NYC?
NYC obviously has the most to do in any US city, so what other cities have lots to do?

I hear Fargo , ND is a really happening place ... Word has it that the National Soil and Grass Museum featuring it's exhibit of soil samples and blades of grass from all 50 states is the place to be Friday Nights ...

You have to go all the way to Sweetwater, Texas to see the world's largest rattlesnake roundup. That's something NYC doesn't have.

NYC doesn't have a Walmart parking lot for young people to hangout in late at night. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised to see this in a few locations over the years in small town America.

A free and short drive to a trailhead. If you want to get away from the noise for a day, you'll have to drive about an hour and probably pay $10-20 in bridge tolls, or cough up a similar train fare. There are a few micro-hikes in town that are pleasant, but sometimes you might need more than that to decompress.

NYC does not have cow tipping, banjo dueling, wal-marts, or other such American staples. But we do have trailer parks! (just a few but they are here)

There is no connection to nature in New York City. I remember visiting New Mexico as an adult and wishing that I had the opportunity to go camping and riding a horse when younger like many kids growing up there have. I mean really camping in the wilderness, not going to a "camp." I think that closeness to the land gives a balance to life that is often missing in NYC. I love New York but the emphasis it places on acquiring all things man-made can be unhealthy. The ability to drive out of the city and really be in open country is something we cannot do here.

We don't have great outdoor areas for a BBQ on the weekends in the summer with friends. We have beautiful parks. But no BBQ'ing allowed.

A small thing yes - but since you asked ....

We don't have the Moderator cut: Stereotype culture

Last edited by bmwguydc; 05-25-2010 at 10:01 AM.. Reason: Stereotype is offensive to some, especially when used outside of specific cultural groups.
