I think you should be a little more paranoid, yes. We live in the same city and I've experienced some of the danger that exists that you haven't experienced. It's sill there whether you see it or not, not knowing it's there actually makes you an easier victim if you ask me. Don't take ANY big city for granted in America!

My roommate had a gun pulled on him and was jacked of his wallet about a block from University Ave near the MPLS-STP border....
My cousin got jumped by 3 people and his wallet stolen in Uptown.
My dad's car got stolen at Lowry & Lyndale.
My dad's truck got stolen right by Broadway Ave by the Burger King.
My friends' boyfriend was walking home from drink with 3 other girls and was beat up by a couple guys.
Crime exsists everywhere. Would I call these 'crimes' to be fearful of? No.

Wait until you're a victim!
I've gotten into 2 "fights" since I've been back from college (both were me against several -- so beatings) and both times I ended up in the hospital. Several stitches for a split lip and got my nose busted and may need surgery to fix it. I just got unlucky I guess, but it makes me 2nd guess where I go and at what time and who is with me.....and I'm a pretty big dude.
I've never been to Pittsburgh, but Minneapolis isn't that bad. Out of the entire city there are a few small areas where I'll feel a little edgy or that look pretty rough aesthetically, but that's about it. The only crime you really see around here is minor property crime and the occasional theft. Lock your doors and don't leave your car parked on the street overnight and you'll have very little else to worry about.
Sure serious crimes do happen but very rarely does it happen at random. I live pretty close to the heart of south Minneapolis and I never see gang members walking around or anything. It's fairly tame here.
Pittsburgh is much older than Mpls and its Rust Belt Heritage is evident all over town (except for the steel mills--they are all gone!). Many n'hoods LOOK like they could be dangerous, but the stats Pgh to be one of the safest big cities in the nation.
That depends where. There are areas in Pittsburgh where you definitely wouldn't want to walk if you aren't from that project or hood. It's not gang, it's neighborhood affiliated stuff and you'd be the easiest of targets, especially at night.
Removed. See the OP. It's not a music video thread.
I know a lot dudes like you from DC or NYC who thought they could own the streets of Cleveland b/c they were from NYC or DC and they came around me in Cudell and got clapped. Now Cleveland is a lot worse, but egos are the hoods worst enemy.
WTF u talkin bout this aint even got nothin to do with the topic at hand slim
