Miami is the perfect quick escape from D.C. in February. Only 2 and half hours and you're in paradise.

In St Paul for example, Fort Myers is the typical sunbelt getaway. I don't know if this is because the Twins training camp is there or because the local airline, Sun Country, has cheap flights there, but it seems that when most people from the Twin Cities head south, more likely than not it's to the Fort Myers/Sanibel Island area. That's the typical place to go and when down there, at anytime during the winter, it isn't uncommon to run into a large number of Minnesotans. A lot more people from here are also beginning to go to Scottsdale, AZ (it's especially popular with the older folk) but in no way near the numbers that go to Fort Myers.

So fellow people from cold weather states, where does it seem most people from your neck of the woods head off to?
We're from up north and go to Orlando. It's alot more fun than the cities you mentioned by far. Our place is just 7 miles north of Disney World. There is sooo much to do we don't even get to the beaches! It's all fun!

I usually like going to FL for a winter escape. Orlando, Tampa, and I have yet to visit Miami.

I usually go to Miami if I'm looking for more of an exciting escape, or the Bahamas if I'm looking for more of a relaxing escape.

From New Jersey it's Florida or a Caribbean Island. All only 2-1/2 to 4 hours' flight.

I've always thought there was a connection between Ohio and Orlando. Growing up I met tons of people that families had moved down here from Ohio. Especially Dayton.

I never go anywhere to get away from the winter, and I personally don't know too many people that do here, CT. But, anyway, everyone that I ever did know that went away in the Winter always went to Florida.

Not sure about Orlando, but that entire west gulf side of florida is filled with people from the midwest.

I would say Orlando is split pretty evenly between the NE & the Midwest.

Although, a lot of the NE people I knew landed first in South Florida, then made the move up.

NJ has cruise lines that deport Bayonne to the Bermuda/Caribbean Islands, and a lot of people do that during winter. I usually don't go anywhere. Albany, NY has an amazing winterfest though, but I wouldn't call Albany a get away.
