Whistler is the better ski mountain, but in no way shape or form does Whistler contend with Aspen nightlife or party scene. but.Vail/Steamboat/Winter Park/Telluride/Breckenridge all offer better skiing than Aspen.

Obviously, when you say skiing, you mean access to skiing, because you canny ski in Denver and not in Vancouver either. Whistler and Aspen are a fair distance from the big cities. I always found Breckenridge to be the nicest ski town in that area, never thought much of Keystone and Aspen was kinda weird, but Vail was nice in a kind of fake way.

That's most of Canada's 32 million or so people right there

Where did you find those numbers? a Canadian told me it's closer to 40 million now (a lot of immigration in CND).

That Canadian is wrong. The 2006 Census recorded 31,241,030 people and a 2011 estimate (I don't know how reliable it is, but go with it) says 34,395,000. I don't think the country would have gained, lets say 7 million in 5 years to make it close to 40 million.

Also, I would think if you had to use a Canadian city to pit Denver against (or Indy, as in another thread) why not Calgary or maybe Edmonton? The metros are smaller, but they are the largest thing for hundreds of miles. I reckon they are a much better fit than Vancouver
