I don't think it's bland.

It's just going through a personality change right now, Charlotte is one of the fastest growing cities in the country, you can expect for it to start getting creative soon enough.

I think Charlotte is very nice. Granted I agree with you to a certain extent regarding the overall character or lack there of. I found Charlotte to be upscale and very well manicured. No offense, but I know you liked it better than Memphis...

To Me the culture ,the history, the vibe of memphis overweighs the cons of the crime, politics, and third world looking neighborhoods.

I agree. Charlotte is a nice city, well manicured with some nice shopping and a couple of neat skyscrapers. Otherwise it's pretty ho-hum. I had a job offer there a few years ago but didn't take it for that very reason. I like some grit in my city, and I definitely want more soul in my city than what Charlotte has to offer (which isn't much).

And it's not just Charlotte. I pretty much feel the same about any other big, johnny-come-lately city such as Sacramento, Orlando, or Phoenix (among others).

You're kidding, right? Charlotte's unemployment rate, 11.1%, is much higher than the national average, and it's higher than the Memphis rate of 10.4%.

b/c so many people moved there, the jobs there are generally of better caliber though.

Charlotte is one of the largest banking centers, strong connections to NY and SF through BoA and everything that comes with it, along with Wells Fargo buyout of Wachovia and similar industry connections.

Charlotte is also a major center in the US motorsports industry, with NASCAR having multiple offices in and around Charlotte. Approximately 75% of the NASCAR industry's employees and drivers are based within two hours of uptown Charlotte; Charlotte is also the home of the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

definitely on the, fast track.
